What We Offer Through Women’s Ministry

The women’s ministry at St. Paul is WELCA, a local gathering of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. We are a group of women who support and encourage each other as we grow in our faith journey. WELCA is the driving force behind many of the activities at St. Paul as the women are called to action by the Holy Spirit and supported by the commitment of this congregation.

Building Relationship

WELCA – St. Paul meets regularly on the third Monday of the month, September through June at 6:30 pm. The women are united in their faith by sharing Scriptural devotions and doing the business of the Church. All women and friends of the congregation are welcomed to join in the fellowship of doing God’s Work – Our Hands locally and globally.

Growing in Christ

The Purpose Statement of WELCA speaks to our growth in Christ.  “As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in  faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world.” http://www.womenoftheelca.org/

Serving

St. Paul is committed to serving God’s people and support a variety of ministries serving not only St. Paul, but the local and wider community. Examples of our congregational outreach include supporting the local food pantry, donating backpacks and fleece blankets for children entering foster care, adopting a local family at Christmas. Financially, WELCA-St. Paul supports local agencies for women and children including Pregnancy Pathways and Response to Domestic Violence. Globally, we support the ELCA in appeals to combat malaria, assist in disaster relief, world hunger and women in need through Katie’s Fund and Thankofferings.
